ifilm asks and our dear viewers choose, in polls regularly published on our homepage. Here’s part 1-a, on Kambiz Dirbaz, your picked actor in ‘A Mother’s Sacrifice’.

In a recent poll, we asked our audience who their choice actor appearing in ifilm series ‘A Mother's Sacrifices’ was. The results were as follows:

Kambiz Dirbaz: 37.1%

Behnaz Jafari: 25.7%

Parivash Nazariyeh: 20%

Mehdi Soltani-Sarvestani: 17.1%

Get to know Kambiz Dirbaz, the most popular actor in this series, based on excerpts from interviews he has had with journalists on ‘A Mother’s Sacrifice’ and other productions he has played in.

Kambiz, who started acting 20 years ago in theatre, was known as Iran cinema’s excitement boy, until recently. He says:

Khalil, the lead role’s character name in the series, is far away from his real personality, and that made it much more attractive for me. It took me great effort before I could make it. He is a lonely person in the series, and he likes it. That is an internal world of loneliness that I like.

To reply to the question on whether Khalil is the hero in that story, I can say it starts with him, and goes on. In terms of his sacrifice for his son, let’s say he is a hero.

I am 10 years younger than Khalil, who has got a 20-year-old son. My own daughter is just 4 years old, and therefore, I did not initially have a realistic idea of what being such a father would look like. I did work hard to act the role; even his character is far from what I am.

But fortunately, my dad as a role model, i.e. his style of walking, his tone, and so on, helped me indeed, to realize the personality. Filling the gap between the real me and Khalil, was an enjoyable challenge; that’s what acting is all about.

You, as a journalist or anyone, just get the chance of being one person all your life; but an actor empathizes with many characters and lives them for a while, seeing it through their perspectives. This makes acting and dramatic arts fascinating for me.
